Founded in 1946, FEE was the first free-market organization in the United States, producing nationwide seminars, classroom resources, social media, online courses, and engaging daily content designed to educate young people on the ideas of a free society.
We recently asked Leisa Miller, Marketing Associate at FEE to tell us about the problem they were trying to solve when they discovered ConvertFlow.
Leisa explained: “we get almost a million visitors to the site every month, but only a small percentage of those are on our email list. We wanted to display popups on our site to help grow our email list.”
She added: “Previously, we used another service called Sumo. But we weren’t thrilled with their product, so we started searching on Google for a better solution.

Why FEE.org stopped using Sumo and started using ConvertFlow
Explaining their reasons for switching to ConvertFlow, Leisa told us: “since we have a dev team, we tried building the popups ourselves at first, but it was a lot of work.
A few people recommended we try Sumo, which we did for a few months, but it was “buggy”, their support team was slow, our conversions were abysmal compared to our native popups, and they didn’t have any real integration for targeting our HubSpot users. Then we found ConvertFlow.”

Conversion rates quickly climbed from 0.7% to over 4%, after transitioning to ConvertFlow
When asked about measurable results, Leisa excitedly said: “our conversion rates are through the roof since we started using ConvertFlow. We created a CTA to target potential donors - and that CTA has had above a 4% conversion rate since we launched it.”
She continued; “Our conversion rates with Sumo would start at a 0.7% conversion rate and drop to 0.5% after a couple days. With ConvertFlow though, it’s not uncommon for our conversion rates to start at above 4% and then slowly stabilize at around 2% after about two weeks.”

Combining HubSpot contact data with ConvertFlow’s targeting and personalization capabilities has made conversions increase significantly
As a power user, Leisa is always testing new features. When asked about her favorite, she said: “ConvertFlow’s targeting abilities are really nice. I love being able to target users based on their contact list memberships and property details in HubSpot. One of my favorite things is targeting only known HubSpot users, and then using their name in the CTA. It makes a huge difference in conversion rates.”
Leisa also likes the “steps” in each CTA. “It makes iterating really easy. I can see exactly where people drop out of our offers.”
Fast response to support requests: a key factor in FEE’s success with ConvertFlow
Speaking for FEE’s marketing team, Leisa told us: “we really appreciate the promptness of replies when we have issues. Normally, I dread having to get on chat support with companies, but it’s totally painless with ConvertFlow. It seems you like guys are constantly improving the service and adding new features too. It’s great. Thanks for all that! :)
Armed with ConvertFlow’s ability to target subscribers and donors based on HubSpot contact data, FEE.org is successfully raising the funds needed to fulfill their core mission: educating young adults about economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society.
